I was thinking about some of our experiences together as a village and realized it has been quite a journey. I bet you don’t even remember the time we roasted Luke on his birthday at Stake and Ale. Do you realize that we have been together for over a quarter of a century? And if you count Tim and Pat’s days in the Vineyard and Dorri and Ced’s days at Friendship, the time really gets staggering. But the truth of the matter, I’ve enjoyed every step of the way (well maybe except for the New Orleans trip). Anyway, I was wondering what has been your most memorable or enjoyable or controversial moment along this journey? Some ideas that pop to mind for me:1. The Washington, D.C. trip
2. The New Orleans Trip (by way of Arkansas)
3. Rita’s famous “Snicker Bars”
4. Lake of the Ozarks Condo One (we all stayed in one big condo)
5. Lake of the Ozarks Condos Two (no jet ski for Caleb)
6. Golf at the Lake (it was like 105 degrees)
7. Allen Field House
8. The golf challenge at the picnic (were we trying to hit balls in a bucket?)
9. The Speech (“Oh the Places You Will Go”)
10. Golf at Big Swope (OK. So we’re slow players.)
11. Golf at Little Swope (Nice golf bag Courtney)
12. Picnic (you pick one)
13. Christmas dinner/gift exchange (you pick one)
14. Heart-to-heart talks
15. College send-off speeches
16. Caleb’s baseball game

This is a good one. I had to think about it for a while, especially since you took some of the good ones.
-Oh the Places You'll go was good because I think that's when we started calling ourselves "The Village"
-Allison's senior recital/reception is definitely high on my list. The girl has a beautiful voice.
-Mr. Rowan telling one of my boyfriends to go fix his own plate.
-Any conversation/debate that I've had with Ryan.
I agree Courtney...let me add:
*the Beatty's fondness for four legged creatures (not!);
*Dorri's shoe fetish;
*Ryan's and Brandon's crossing the burning sands to Sigma-dom;
*Stan's tears at his dad's birthday party (or was it his parents' wedding anniversary?);
*Brandon (as a little tot) taking aim and wetting our sofa;
*Attending a reception for Ced after his ordination or was it his licensing?;
*Attending Courtney's cotillion together;
*Serving as Stan's jinx (seems like when Papa Stan and Papa Luke traveled together, Stan got a speeding ticket...go figure);
*Stan and Pat attending the blessing of Briana at West Side Missionary Baptist Church;
*Playing softball together in the co-ed league in KC;
*Seeing the young men of the village interact;
*Seeing a shrine to toilet paper at Stan's aunt's home in AK;
*Traveling to New Orleans, seeing DJ and Jill, eating gumbo (we were much thinner thin);
*Hearing Courtney speak at Tim and Val's church and Allison's solo (is this right?);
*The villagers visiting me while in the hospital;
*Rita's feeble attempts to have villagers take potato salad;
*Seeing Val roll her neck;
*Those looks that Pat gives Stanley when he is stretching the truth;
O yes, thanks for the reminder about the golf 'box' that Courtney was sporting!

Everytime Mr.Rowan busts out is his slow jam dance moves
Let me see...... Washington DC the Sigma Conclave. I remember all of the baby strollers, diaper bags, animal crackers and all of us trying to function as one big group. The first few days we spent more time organizing what we were going to do as oppose to just doing something. Tim and I would get to our hotel room at night and wipe our brow because we didn't have children then and it was so overwelming. Might have been why we took sooooo long to have kids? :-)
Luke moving in with us in St. Louis for a few months before the Rita ans Briana joined him. He was a great house guest, but he so missed his family.
Rita's snicker bars...I have heard a lot about them over the years, but never had the priviledge to sample the product. I know my village sister is afraid to bring them out again because the men all diss her about them. Stay stong Rita!
Courtney's "Oh the Places You'll Go" You know how some church folk are scared to use resources that they are not familar with? I told them this chile will deliver and boy did she deliver that day!
Game night at the Bobo's house in St. Louis. When Luke was in the hospital and we played win,lose or draw.
College send off speeches, this is always a happy time, but I was especially proud this past summer because the village was sending my Allison off and she had been waiting for her day for a long time.
Christmas dinner/gift exchange. I hope the Bobos can join us this year in KC. I like this time because it feels like family and when you live away from all of your family like I do it is a nice touch for the holidays.
Young Andrew and Caleb playing golf with the village men.
Brandon and Courtneys visit at my kitchen table. It is always an enlightening experience. :-)

Yes Valerie...The Washington DC trip did make us wait! Sorry Andrew and Caleb!

The Ozarks and the annual Picnics bring tears top my eyes.
